Fiberglass Statues
Angels and Saint Statues made of Fiberglass in Vivid ColorWhen we think of sculptures, we often think of expensive or ancient works that are displayed in famous museums and galleries, barred off from the public by a velvet rope. These works are often thought to be outrageously expensive, or otherwise, unobtainable, by the general masses. Needless to say that while there are countless elaborate works of art that are usually only for museum or gallery display, this is still a big misconception. Now in days, many use these three-dimension works of art to adorn various public and private areas. In fact, it is not uncommon to see a gorgeous statue in front of an educational institution, or even in a park, adding a touch of artistic elegance to the landscape. Many individuals even utilize statues to in their gardens, or even the final resting place of a loved one, to help create a peaceful atmosphere for all to enjoy. This brings us to the question, what type of statue is right for me? While many sculptures are often thought to be made of natural materials, such as marble stone, not all are, especially now in days. This is because modern technology has provided us a way to create sculptures that are as elegant as their natural predecessors. One of the most innovative materials used to create statues today is one that many would not even guess; that material is fiberglass. Fiberglass statues offer a wonderful way to create molded sculptures that will be as gorgeous as traditional pieces, but easier to handle and, of course, more affordable. These statues, unlike pieces made from natural, or even metal materials which can get quite heavy and expensive, feature a highly detailed figure that is truly brought to life, as it is finished in full color. While many may think that a fiberglass statue would be somewhat less personable, but that is also a misconception. These beautiful pieces are created in Italy by skilled artisans who, must first create the initial piece by sculpting it by hand, usually from a wax or oil based clay. Once the piece is created, it is cast in fiberglass by utilizing a mold. After the statue is cast in the fiberglass, an artist then paints the entire piece by hand, with excruciating attention to every detail. This just goes to say that each piece, while more affordable and obtainable than what would be considered traditional statues, are still true masterpieces of art. The use of statues to adorn areas is a practice that has long survived through the centuries. From our initial years on this Earth, statues have long since been displayed for various reasons, ranging from religious, to political, and even just for their aesthetic appeal. With that said, the innovative statues available today, such as those created from fiberglass, will surely have a hand in helping this long standing tradition survive for many more centuries to come. |
